Il ne s'agit bien sur que d'un concept pour le moment, mais le designer David Chacon a lancer l'idée de la Universal Remote qui, à travers une interface personnalisable et en Flash, permettrait de tout gérer chez soi, que de la lumière aux stores, ou encore de la télé au four à micro ondes, à partir d'une tablette tactile. Par la suite les constructeurs pourrait faire des applications téléchargeables pour chacun de leur produit, permettant ainsi à l'utilisateur des les intégrer à sa tablette et donc de les gérer à distance.
